Derrick Jones Jr. Goes “Airplane Mode” in Dunk of the Summer

Just when I had dubbed the Kings the most exciting team of the NBA Summer League, Derrick Jones Jr. goes “Airplane Mode” and does this. Pat Riley may have found another diamond in the rough here.

Jones played one season of college ball at UNLV before going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. He bounced around from the Kings to the Suns with stints in the G League before being signed in December by the Heat.

Since he left school after his Freshman season, Jones is still developing despite having 2 years of NBA/G-League experience. He is the perfect candidate to capitalize on the showcase stage that is the NBA Summer League. A lot of people tuned in today to watch Marvin Bagley III, but thanks to this play by Derrick Jones Jr. we will all go home in “Airplane Mode” tonight.

(If anyone knows what “Airplane MoOOooOOoode” is please leave a comment. Thanks.)
